KUALA LUMPUR, June 9 — Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, the Perikatan Nasional (PN) election director, anticipates a significant voter swing towards PN in the forthcoming state by-election in Sungai Bakap, Penang. He attributes this shift to growing dissatisfaction among supporters of the ruling unity government, as reported by Utusan Malaysia.
Sanusi, also the Kedah menteri besar, believes the momentum from the last state elections will carry over, with disgruntled members of a specific party—implied to be Umno—lending their support to PN. He cited various issues plaguing the unity government as reasons for the shift, expressing sympathy for the weakening position of the party in question. In response to claims by Parti Amanah Negara deputy president Datuk Seri Mujahid Yusof Rawa that PN’s support is waning, Sanusi countered that PN’s rivals are currently less formidable, reducing the need for PN to exert maximum effort.
