KUALA LUMPUR, June 9 — The public can rest assured that the Setiawangsa-Pantai Expressway (SPE) along Jalan Cheras is safe for use, as confirmed by Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi. After an immediate inspection and expert assessment, it was determined that there are no structural cracks in the flyover. To further ensure safety, crack monitoring devices will be installed as a proactive measure. Nanta, accompanied by Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) Director-General Datuk Ir. Sazali Harun, personally inspected the flyover structure and found no evidence of cracks.
The investigation was prompted by concerns raised on social media, which were swiftly addressed by the ministry. The ministry confirmed that the perceived cracks were merely construction joint lines from previous concrete work. The SPE, featuring three-lane dual carriageways and seven flyovers, has been operational since November 3 last year and connects several major highways to improve traffic flow in the capital.
