NIBONG TEBAL, June 10 — The candidate representing the unity government in the Sungai Bakap by-election will be announced on June 12, according to PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli. The selected candidate’s name will be presented at the unity government Leadership Consultative Council Meeting on Tuesday afternoon.
Rafizi, also PKR’s election director, mentioned that the candidate has been screened by the Penang State Leadership Council and approved by PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Acknowledging the challenge posed by the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition, he expressed confidence in reclaiming the seat lost in the last state election. The by-election, set for July 6, follows the passing of incumbent Nor Zamri Latiff on May 24.
