PETALING JAYA, June 17 — Pakatan Harapan (PH) has announced Joohari Ariffin from PKR as their candidate for the upcoming Sungai Bakap by-election on July 6. The announcement was made by PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli at an event in Bandar Tasek Mutiara, Penang, highlighting Joohari’s local roots and connections to the Malaysian Islamic Youth Movement (Abim).
The by-election was triggered by the death of PAS assemblyman Nor Zamri Latiff on May 24. The nomination day is set for June 22. Joohari, a former lecturer and public school educator, expressed his hope for the support of the constituents, particularly teachers, in the by-election. Perikatan Nasional has indicated they will field a PAS candidate for the seat.
