KUALA LUMPUR, June 17 — Perikatan Nasional (PN) has announced Abidin Ismail as its candidate for the Sungai Bakap by-election, aiming to retain the seat. Abidin, 56, who served as the special officer to the late Nor Zamri Latiff, hails from the constituency and is also the PAS Nibong Tebal deputy chief.
Abidin expressed his commitment to continuing Nor Zamri’s legacy, urging for prayers and support to defend the seat. The decision to select Abidin was based on field studies and PN leadership’s confidence in his capability to address the issues raised by his predecessor. The Sungai Bakap state seat became vacant following the death of Nor Zamri on May 24, with the by-election scheduled for July 6.
