PUTRAJAYA, June 19 ― Chinese Premier Li Qiang, on a three-day official visit to Malaysia, was honored with an official welcoming ceremony at Dataran Perdana today. This marks his first visit to Malaysia since assuming office in March last year. Upon arrival at 9.30am, Premier Li was greeted by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, followed by the national anthems of both countries and an inspection of a guard of honour by the First Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment.

During his visit, Premier Li and Prime Minister Anwar held discussions on enhancing bilateral relations and exchanged views on regional and international issues. The leaders are also set to witness the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding in areas such as the digital economy, green development, tourism, and higher education. Li’s arrival at Kuala Lumpur International Airport on June 18th highlights the ongoing strong trade relationship, with China being Malaysia’s largest trading partner for 15 consecutive years, achieving a trade volume of RM450.84 billion (US$98.90 billion) in 2023.
