GEORGE TOWN, June 21 – Tesla has officially launched in Penang today, unveiling its latest electric vehicle models, including the Model 3 Performance, Model Y, and the highly anticipated Cybertruck. From June 21 to June 30, residents can experience these cutting-edge vehicles firsthand at the Ground Floor Centre Atrium at Gurney Plaza. This event marks Tesla’s expansion into the northern states of Malaysia, offering test drives for the Model 3 and Model Y, and a rare opportunity to see the revolutionary Cybertruck up close.

In addition to showcasing their EV lineup, Tesla announced plans to enhance their presence in Penang with a dedicated after-sales service location and the installation of the first V4 Supercharging station at Gurney Plaza. Visitors can view the Cybertruck daily from 10.00am to 10.00pm without an appointment, and explore its interiors during scheduled timeslots. Following its stint at Gurney Plaza, the Cybertruck will be on display at Queensbay Mall from July 2 to 14. While not for sale in Malaysia, the Cybertruck’s visit highlights Tesla’s commitment to expanding its market and technological footprint in the region.

The Cybertruck, brought directly from Gigafactory Texas, is available in three variants, with the base model expected in 2025 featuring a rear-wheel drive setup, 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds, and a range of 402 km. The mid-spec AWD variant offers enhanced performance with a 0-100 km/h time of 4.3 seconds and a range of 547 km. The top-tier Cyberbeast, equipped with three electric motors, boasts a 0-100 km/h time of 2.7 seconds and a range of 515 km. Both the AWD and Cyberbeast variants support DC fast charging of up to 250kW. Stay tuned for further announcements from Tesla Malaysia on the Cybertruck’s next tour stops.
