KUALA LUMPUR, June 23 – In a significant move to combat the rising incidence of kidney disease in Malaysia, HSBC Malaysia has collaborated with the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) to provide essential medical equipment worth over RM400,000. This donation includes a reverse osmosis water system, five dialysis machines, and five Far Infrared Therapy (FIR) machines, aiming to enhance treatment accessibility and patient outcomes across NKF’s dialysis centers.
According to the National Renal Registry, 51,256 Malaysians suffered from end-stage kidney failure in 2022, a figure projected to double by 2040. Kidney disease is now among the top 10 causes of death in the country, driven primarily by diabetes and hypertension. Recognizing this urgent health crisis, NKF CEO Khor Xin Yun emphasized the importance of comprehensive awareness initiatives and robust support networks. HSBC Malaysia’s CEO, Dato’ Omar Siddiq, reiterated the bank’s commitment to community well-being, noting that collaborative efforts are essential to fostering awareness and prevention of kidney disease, ultimately enhancing the health of Malaysian communities.
