GEORGE TOWN, June 24 — The Penang Bon Odori Festival is set to return on Saturday, July 27, 2024, from 5 PM to 11 PM at Padang Kota Lama. This vibrant celebration of Japanese culture is supported by the Penang State Government, the Consulate General of Japan, and several Japanese associations, including the Malaysian-Japanese Society and Penang Japanese Association.
Leading up to the main event, two exciting pre-events are planned: the Miss Bon Odori Contest and the Bon Odori Pop Up Fest. The preliminary round of the contest will take place on July 20 at 1st Avenue, with the final round on July 27 at Padang Kota Lama. The Pop Up Fest, a two-day cultural extravaganza featuring food, crafts, and performances, will be held on July 20-21 at 1st Avenue. The festival promises an enchanting experience of Japanese dance, music, and culinary delights, fostering unity and multicultural appreciation in Penang.
