KUALA LUMPUR, June 27 — The Digital Ministry heralds Microsoft’s recent US$2.2 billion (RM10.3 billion) investment in Malaysia as a benchmark for other industries to stimulate national innovation and development. This significant commitment is expected to foster digital talent and propel Malaysia towards becoming a global digital hub, according to the ministry.

Responding to Dr. Richard Rapu @ Aman Anak Begri’s inquiry, the ministry highlighted that Microsoft’s investment will enhance the country’s cloud infrastructure and AI capabilities, create high-skilled job opportunities, and support local companies in integrating AI by 2025. Furthermore, Microsoft plans to collaborate with the government on a national AI center, bolster cyber security, and train over 300,000 digital sector workers by 2025, aligning with Malaysia’s goal of producing a million digital talents by 2030.
