KUALA LUMPUR, June 27 — The government will maintain stringent security measures while implementing the Visa Liberalisation Plan (PLV), the Dewan Rakyat was informed today. Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail emphasized that while the aim is to attract more tourists, robust entry controls will be enforced, including the mandatory filling out of the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card to gather traveller information.

Speaking in response to a question from Datuk Dr Nik Muhammad Zawawi Salleh (PN-Pasir Puteh), Saifuddin Nasution highlighted the government’s efforts to monitor and manage foreigner hotspots, noting that 224 such locations have been identified. From January 1, a total of 7,975 operations have been conducted, inspecting 76,477 foreigners, of which 20,207 were found without valid documents and repatriated.

Additionally, the Immigration Department has recorded the arrival of 950,000 tourists from China and 443,000 from India as of June 15, with Chinese and Indian nationals granted visa exemptions for 30 days until December 31.
