JASIN, June 29 — Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) must focus their efforts to regain voter trust and reclaim at least 30 of the 54 parliamentary constituencies known as “Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) seats” in the 16th general election, said Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan. Speaking at the Jasin Umno Division delegates meeting, he emphasized the need for a study and action plan tailored to current conditions, acknowledging that Felda settlers now span three generations, many of whom live in urban areas.
Mohamad noted that Felda seats were once BN strongholds, and losing these constituencies in the last two general elections dealt a significant blow to the party. He called for real and accurate explanations to counteract rumors and slander, asserting that the goal of reclaiming 30 Felda seats is reasonable. “We need to retain several seats in Felda areas that we’ve won now and if we get 30 Felda seats, it’s already a good achievement,” he said.
