This facility will focus on the development of next-generation high-speed digital and analog instrumentation, supporting Cohu’s commitment to advancing semiconductor test technology. Jeff Jones, SVP and CFO, highlighted Penang’s strategic location, skilled workforce, and supportive infrastructure as key factors in the decision to establish the center, which aims to deliver high-precision test solutions for high-performance semiconductors.

Penang EXCO YB Zairil Khir Johari and MDEC CEO Ts. Mahadhir Aziz welcomed the new center, noting its potential to strengthen Penang’s position as Southeast Asia’s semiconductor hub. The facility will employ up to 60 research engineers, fostering local talent and innovation in line with Malaysia’s digital growth strategy. This initiative is set to boost Penang’s industrial ecosystem, supporting Cohu’s goal to create energy-efficient, cost-effective testing solutions that meet the demands of modern semiconductor performance.
