KUALA LUMPUR, June 30 — After lackluster performances in the 15th general election and the 2023 state elections, the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) is charting a new course to solidify its presence in the political landscape. Acting president Amira Aisya Abd Aziz is spearheading efforts to strengthen the party’s internal structure, emphasizing a “whole of society” approach to foster democratic engagement among members.

Amira Aisya, who took the helm following Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman’s resignation, is driving initiatives such as the “Sekolah Muda” training program to ensure members understand the party’s policies and goals. With higher membership fees introduced to maintain independence, Muda is also focusing on enhancing grassroots communication and democratic decision-making within the party. As Muda prepares for its first party polls at the end of the year, Amira Aisya hopes to secure the leadership mandate to continue building the party’s future.
