KUALA LUMPUR, July 5 – The Auditor-General’s Report (LKAN) 2/2024, presented in the Dewan Rakyat today, scrutinized nine audits across 11 ministries, covering projects worth RM41.97 billion. Auditor-General Datuk Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi highlighted several weaknesses in project implementation, including the River of Life (RoL) project and the broadband infrastructure program.
The report revealed significant issues with the RoL project, noting that 12 projects remain in the pre-implementation stage, and eight are ongoing with no contractors appointed for two projects. Similarly, the broadband infrastructure program failed to meet its goals, with 28 out of 87 broadband alignments in Sabah and the peninsula unused since completion, reflecting idle infrastructure and disconnected cable lines. The report underscores the need for improved monitoring and coordination to avoid delays, substandard quality, and increased costs.
