KUANTAN, July 8 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has mandated that all ministers and the Chief Secretary to the Government (KSN) adopt villages to ensure their wellbeing is closely monitored. This directive also extends to all secretaries-general of ministries (KSU) and senior government officials, with the aim of enhancing the quality of life for villagers and preventing rural development from being overshadowed by urban projects.
Anwar emphasized that the directive doesn’t require daily oversight but recommends monthly or bi-monthly visits to guarantee continuous village development. “The government machinery exists, but messages often get lost. With the Kampung Angkat MADANI programme, all ministers, including the PM, KSN, KSU, and senior officials, must adopt a village to ensure government initiatives are effectively reaching the grassroots,” Anwar stated during the launch of the national-level Kampung Angkat MADANI 2024 programme at Kampung Chengal Lempong, Balok.
