KUALA LUMPUR, July 17 — Parti Keadilan Rakyat (KEADILAN) Pulau Pinang has expressed disappointment over a promotional video for the George Town Festival 2024, which appeared to neglect the cultural heritage of the Malay community. The party emphasized that this oversight fails to represent the true diversity and cultural pride of Penang.
KEADILAN highlighted that the video in question was a draft version and has since been taken down. However, they stressed the importance of cultural sensitivity in promotional content and urged the responsible contractor to be more inclusive in their future work. The party also reaffirmed their confidence in the Penang State Government and Georgetown World Heritage Incorporated to address this issue transparently and uphold the values of inclusivity and respect for all cultural communities in Penang.
