KUALA LUMPUR, July 18 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced today that he will meet with the family of the late Teoh Beng Hock next week. Speaking at the World Trade Centre, Anwar explained that his prior commitments, including preparations for the King’s inauguration, had delayed the meeting.
Teoh Beng Hock, a former political aide to DAP politician Ean Yong Hian Wah, was found dead on July 16, 2009, following questioning by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). His death remains a contentious issue, prompting ongoing calls for further investigation. This week, Beng Hock’s sister, Teoh Lee Lan, led a “Walk of Justice” to Parliament to deliver a memorandum to the prime minister, but was intercepted by police at the gates.
