KUALA LUMPUR, July 19 — Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, addressed concerns today regarding delays in issuing diesel fleet cards to users, attributing the setback to sluggish responses from Malaysia’s five major oil companies. During the Dewan Rakyat session, Armizan acknowledged that while approvals proceed smoothly once documents are complete and submitted, the issuance of fleet cards by oil companies has been notably slow.

He emphasized ongoing efforts to expedite the process through continued engagement with these companies, alongside temporary measures such as issuing cash cards. The government’s recent decision to raise the retail price of diesel aims to phase out blanket subsidies in favor of targeted assistance, a move projected to save approximately RM4 billion annually. As part of this transition, users awaiting fleet cards are advised to retain their diesel purchase receipts for potential cash refund claims facilitated by the Finance Ministry.
