PUTRAJAYA, July 20 — The Court of Appeal has scheduled August 20 to render its decision on former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s application to review the reinstatement of four abuse of power charges totaling RM232.5 million against him. The decision follows today’s proceedings where Muhyiddin’s legal team presented arguments seeking to overturn the Court of Appeal’s earlier ruling to revive the charges.

Led by Judge Datuk Azizah Nawawi, a five-member panel deliberated on submissions from Muhyiddin’s lead counsel, Datuk Hisyam Teh Poh Teik, and Deputy Public Prosecutors Datuk Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin and Datuk Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar representing the prosecution. “We require additional time due to the gravity of the issues involved. Hence, the decision has been postponed to August 20,” Justice Azizah remarked during the session.

Muhyiddin, 77, contests the reinstatement of charges related to alleged bribery involving RM232.5 million from several companies during his tenure as Prime Minister. His legal team argues that the Court of Appeal’s initial decision lacked jurisdiction, as per Section 50(1) of the Courts of Judicature Act 1964, and seeks the court’s intervention to rectify what they perceive as a miscarriage of justice.
