GEORGE TOWN, July 23 — Penang Deputy Chief Minister Jagdeep Singh Deo has confirmed he is taking a short break to address medical issues, amid speculation that he was advised to take leave from his role in the state executive council. Jagdeep, who is currently in Kuala Lumpur, is seeking a second opinion on an ankle injury that has caused him chronic pain, and is also receiving treatment for psoriasis.
Jagdeep, who has been in Seremban for further consultation, clarified that his leave from Saturday to Wednesday is for personal health reasons, not due to any advice to step back from his duties. He dismissed rumors about being on “garden leave” and stated he will return to work on Thursday. The speculation follows reports of a senior exco member being advised to take leave for personal issues affecting their duties.
