JOHOR BAHRU, July 23 — The visionary leadership of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim is set to elevate Malaysia to greater heights over the next five years, according to Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi. In a recent interview with Bernama, Onn Hafiz emphasized Sultan Ibrahim’s focus on unity among Malaysia’s diverse communities, which he sees as crucial for national prosperity and progress. “Seeing the way Sultan Ibrahim governs Johor, I am sure His Majesty will do the same at the national level,” he said.
Onn Hafiz also highlighted the significant role Sultan Ibrahim has played in addressing issues affecting people’s lives and promoting racial unity. He recalled their discussions during the Kembara Mahkota Johor (KMJ) programme, initiated by Sultan Ibrahim in 2001 to connect with the grassroots. The Menteri Besar noted the royal couple’s deep understanding of the people’s needs, citing their generous contributions during the Covid-19 pandemic and their advocacy for essential infrastructure projects like the widening of the North-South Expressway. The official Installation Ceremony of Sultan Ibrahim as the 17th King of Malaysia will take place at the Istana Negara on July 20.
