BAYAN LEPAS, July 27 – B. Braun Medical Industries Sdn. Bhd. (“BMI”), a global medical technology leader, has once again demonstrated its commitment to fostering STEM education among youths with the latest installment of its B. Braun Genetics Kits Workshop. Held at BMI’s premises in partnership with the Penang Science Cluster (PSC), the interactive workshop saw participation from approximately 80 secondary school students from SMK Telok Kumbar and SMK Seri Nibong.
Guided by 15 specially trained B. Braun volunteers and PSC staff, the event aimed to ignite students’ interest in genetics and inspire them towards STEM careers. Launched in August 2022, the B. Braun Genetics Kits have positively impacted over 3,000 students, prompting an expansion from 1,000 to 1,600 kits in 2024. This year’s updated kits include additional interactive experiments to enhance the learning experience.
Dato’ Ooi Peng Ee, CEO of PSC, emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships in advancing STEM education, stating, “By investing in our students today, we are laying the groundwork for a brighter, more innovative future.” The workshop, held at BMI’s Bayan Lepas facility for the first time, provided students with a unique glimpse into a manufacturing environment and the various career opportunities within the R&D division, underscoring BMI’s commitment to shaping the next generation of scientific talent.
