PARIS, August 1 — Fourteen-year-old Coco Yoshizawa of Japan triumphed in Women’s Street Skateboarding at the Paris 2024 Olympics, securing the gold medal with a stunning final performance. Yoshizawa, who competed without major sponsorship, held off a fierce challenge from 15-year-old compatriot Liz Akama. Despite briefly losing the lead to Akama, Yoshizawa reclaimed first place with a spectacular bigspin kickflip frontside boardslide on a handrail, leaving Akama with the silver medal.

The bronze medal went to 16-year-old Brazilian star Rayssa Leal, who rallied from a 13-point deficit during the Run section to deliver a thrilling comeback performance. The packed stadium in Place de la Concorde erupted in support for Leal, highlighting her dramatic finish. The Men’s Street Skateboarding event is scheduled for tomorrow at the same venue, with the Skateboard Park competition to follow on August 6 and 7.
