KOTA KINABALU, August 5 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has credited the ringgit’s strongest performance in 14 years to the collective efforts of his coalition government and adherence to the Madani principles. Speaking at the Himpunan Perdana Rakyat organized by the Sabah PKR, Anwar emphasized that the currency’s recent gains are a result of robust government policies and unity, not his individual efforts.

The ringgit, which closed at RM4.49 against the US dollar on August 2, has appreciated by 1.6% over the past week, marking its best performance since 2010. Anwar, who also serves as Finance Minister, highlighted that the ongoing positive trend reflects the effectiveness of the Madani government’s strategies and its strong international relations. He also revealed plans to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, aiming to attract investment for Malaysia and specifically for Sabah in various sectors including tourism and renewable energy.
