KOTA KINABALU, August 8 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reprimanded elected representatives from his unity government for questioning his statements about federal funds allocated to Sabah. Speaking at a Sabah PKR gathering, Anwar emphasized that those seeking federal funds should approach with respect and manners, highlighting that such requests should reflect the relationship of “friends” rather than contentious opposition.

Anwar expressed frustration over criticism received after his announcement of RM16 billion in development expenditure for Sabah during the Kaamatan festival. He defended the allocation, breaking down the figures into various expenditure categories, and urged critics to accept the facts and engage in constructive negotiation. The Prime Minister indicated that while he does not seek gratitude, a respectful approach in addressing such issues is essential.
