KUALA LUMPUR, August 12 – CIMB Group Holdings Berhad has announced the appointment of Tengku Dato’ Sri Azmil Zahruddin bin Raja Abdul Aziz as Chairman and Director of CIMB Thai Bank, effective 19 July 2024. He succeeds Dato’ Robert Cheim Dau Meng, who has retired. Tengku Dato’ Sri Azmil Zahruddin, who joined CIMB Group as a Non-Independent Director on 1 July 2024, brings extensive experience from his previous roles, including Chief Investment Officer at Khazanah Nasional Berhad and Managing Director of Malaysia Airlines.
With a distinguished career in financial and aviation sectors, Tengku Dato’ Sri Azmil Zahruddin has held senior positions at Penerbangan Malaysia Berhad and PricewaterhouseCoopers. He currently chairs the Board of CelcomDigi Berhad and serves as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Sime Darby Berhad. His appointment is expected to strengthen CIMB Thai’s leadership and drive its strategic objectives in the region.
