KUALA LUMPUR, August 14 — MyBorderPass, Malaysia’s pioneering facial recognition app for motorcyclists, has surpassed 30,000 registrations during its trial phase. The new system, designed to expedite immigration checks at the Johor-Singapore border, has gained significant traction among Malaysian motorcyclists at the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar Customs, Immigration, and Quarantine (BSI) complex.
The trial, which includes MyBorderPass and two other systems, is set to conclude on August 31. Johor’s works, transportation, infrastructure, and communication committee chairman Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh expressed optimism about MyBorderPass and plans to review its performance at the BSI. The government aims to enhance border control efficiency while keeping traditional immigration options available.
