KUALA LUMPUR, August 16 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced today that Kuala Lumpur has been ranked among the top 30 emerging ecosystems globally in the Global Startup Ecosystem Report (GSER) 2024. He attributed this achievement to the government’s initiatives through the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (Mosti), which include financing facilities, advisory services, and market access support.
In his speech at the Malaysia Commercialisation Summit 2024, PM Anwar highlighted that Kuala Lumpur’s startup ecosystem generated a remarkable value exceeding RM220 billion (US$47 billion) between July 1, 2021, and December 31, 2023. This milestone underscores the significant impact of local government efforts in fostering a dynamic and thriving startup environment.
