KUALA LUMPUR, August 19 — Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has expressed his gratitude to voters in Nenggiri following the coalition’s defeat in the by-election yesterday. Despite the loss, Muhyiddin emphasized that the party will continue to push forward in its political journey.
Barisan Nasional’s candidate, Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani, secured the Nenggiri state seat with a convincing majority of 3,352 votes over PN’s Mohd Rizwadi Ismail from PAS. Muhyiddin extended his thanks to all voters who supported PN, as well as the leaders and staff who dedicated their efforts to the campaign.
Accepting the voters’ decision with an open heart, Muhyiddin underscored the importance of perseverance. He noted that the struggle to uphold the party’s principles and goals requires patience and resilience, vowing that PN will continue its mission to serve the religion, nation, and country.
Despite the setback, Muhyiddin affirmed that PN remains committed to its cause, as PAS and Bersatu maintain a dominant presence in the Kelantan state assembly, controlling 42 out of its 45 seats.
