GEORGE TOWN, August 27 — Penang DAP chief Chow Kon Yeow remains uncertain about whether he will defend his position, as nominations for the state chapter’s elections closed last Saturday. Chow stated that he will only know in a day or two if he has been nominated by at least two DAP branches in Penang, a requirement to contest the post.
Chow, who also serves as Penang’s Chief Minister, mentioned that the nomination process is confidential, and he is awaiting confirmation from the party’s headquarters. While the state DAP chairman usually holds the Chief Minister’s position, this tradition was not followed during Lim Guan Eng’s two terms as Chief Minister from 2008 to 2018.
