GEORGE TOWN, August 29 – Penang is set to become the global focal point for butterfly enthusiasts and conservationists as it hosts the 2024 International Conference of Butterfly Exhibitors and Suppliers (ICBES) from November 4th to 7th. The event, jointly organized by Entopia by Penang Butterfly Farm and the International Association of Butterfly Exhibitors and Suppliers (IABES), will bring together around 100 international delegates from 18 countries, marking a significant step towards positioning Penang as a leading eco-tourism and creative economy hub.
During a press conference at Entopia, Penang State EXCO for Tourism and Creative Economy (PETACE) YB Wong Hon Wai emphasized the importance of butterflies in ecosystem health and conservation efforts. He highlighted that the conference aligns with Penang’s 2030 vision, focusing on sustainable tourism and environmental preservation. The event not only showcases Penang’s rich biodiversity but also promises economic benefits for local businesses through increased eco-tourism activities.
