GEORGE TOWN, August 31 — The Pulau Tikus Service Centre, in partnership with Gurney Paragon Mall and Generasi Penang, is set to transform an empty space on the third floor of the St. Jo’s heritage building into a Corridor Library. This initiative, running from August 31 to September 1, 2024, aims to rekindle public interest in reading and foster a vibrant reading culture among Penang’s residents.
The event will feature a diverse range of activities including author meet-and-greets, acoustic music performances, a clay craft workshop, and a community reading area. The opening ceremony is scheduled for August 31 at 11am, with notable author sessions throughout the day. Liyana Marzuki and Datuk Arulldas Sinnappan will present their works in the afternoon.
Additionally, a clay workshop themed around ‘Local Malaysian food’ will take place on September 1 at 2pm, hosted by Artelingo Studio. The public is encouraged to participate, bring their own books, or donate books to the library during the event. This collaborative effort seeks to strengthen community bonds and promote lifelong learning through reading.
