KUALA LUMPUR, September 2 – Intel and IBM have announced a global partnership to deploy Intel® Gaudi® 3 AI accelerators as a service on IBM Cloud, a significant step towards making enterprise AI more scalable, cost-effective, and secure. Expected to launch in early 2025, this collaboration will see IBM Cloud become the first cloud service provider to adopt Gaudi 3, offering enhanced AI capabilities integrated with Intel’s 5th Gen Xeon CPUs.

This partnership also brings Gaudi 3 support to IBM’s watsonx AI and data platform, providing enterprises with the tools to innovate and manage AI workloads more efficiently across hybrid and on-premise environments. This initiative is aimed at addressing the growing demand for generative AI, which requires substantial compute power, emphasizing the need for performance, cost efficiency, energy conservation, and security.

By integrating Gaudi 3 with IBM Cloud, Intel and IBM are committed to lowering the total cost of ownership for AI deployments, while boosting performance and ensuring robust security measures. According to Justin Hotard, Intel’s executive vice president, this collaboration is about creating an open and collaborative ecosystem that meets the needs of enterprises looking for affordable and innovative AI solutions.

IBM’s general manager of Cloud, Alan Peacock, highlighted that this new offering will empower IBM clients to optimize cost-performance for AI inferencing, enabling them to innovate and deploy AI solutions more effectively. With a focus on scalability and flexibility, this partnership promises to unlock new AI business opportunities, helping clients across various industries, including heavily regulated sectors, to harness the full potential of AI while maintaining the highest standards of security and compliance.

The Gaudi 3 service capability on IBM Cloud is set to revolutionize enterprise AI by providing a flexible, scalable, and secure infrastructure designed to meet the evolving needs of modern businesses.
