KUALA LUMPUR, September 9 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has expressed concern over Seputeh MP Teresa Kok’s recent comments on halal certification, stating they have sparked unnecessary controversy. Anwar emphasized that Kok’s remarks do not represent the stance of Pakatan Harapan (PH), and there was no need to create public unrest over the issue.
Anwar stressed that certain regulations, such as those surrounding halal certification, are essential for ensuring peace of mind among Muslims in Malaysia. He also urged that such matters should be discussed internally within the coalition before being raised publicly, to maintain national harmony and avoid exacerbating tensions between Muslim and non-Muslim communities.
