KUALA LUMPUR, September 16 — Pahang PAS is considering shutting down gambling premises, including South-east Asia’s largest casino in Genting Highlands, if the party gains control of the state in the 16th general election (GE16). Datuk Andansura Rabu, deputy commissioner of Pahang PAS, said the party has implemented similar measures in states like Kelantan and Kedah but admits that federal legal barriers may limit such actions in Pahang.

Andansura stressed that while PAS would act on issues under its jurisdiction, the authority to close the casino may rest with federal law. He added that PAS is focused on addressing issues that harm society, with gambling being a key concern from both a religious and social welfare standpoint.
