An increasing number of iPhone 16 Pro users are experiencing intermittent touchscreen issues, with taps and swipes being ignored during various interactions such as scrolling and typing. The problem appears to be related to iOS’s touch rejection algorithm, which may be overly sensitive, causing intended touches to be mistakenly dismissed, particularly near the edges of the screen.
The issue, affecting devices on both iOS 18 and the iOS 18.1 beta, is more likely when users grip their phones naturally, with fingers inadvertently touching the slim screen borders. While the problem seems to be software-based and should be fixable with an update, it does not occur when the phone is on the lock screen, further supporting the theory that it’s not a hardware defect. Apple has yet to release an official statement or fix.
