PUTRAJAYA, September 28 — A new cybersecurity academy, coordinated by CyberSecurity Malaysia, will be established to address the critical shortage of experts in the semiconductor and electronics industries, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced today. With over 26,000 vacancies in the cybersecurity field, the academy will serve as a central body to coordinate and accredit cybersecurity programs across institutions.
Zahid, who chairs the National Technical and Vocational Education and Training Council (MTVET), stressed the academy’s importance in developing local expertise amid the growing demand for cybersecurity talent. He also revealed plans to incorporate technical and vocational education (TVET) elements into the National Service Training Programme (PLKN) to broaden career opportunities for participants, with modules focusing on practical skills like plumbing, air conditioning, and electronics.
