KUALA LUMPUR, September 30 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim hailed Barisan Nasional’s (BN) sweeping victory in the Mahkota by-election in Johor, stating that the 20,000-vote margin reflects the people’s strong support for the Unity Government. BN candidate Syed Hussein Syed Abdullah secured 27,995 votes, leaving his Perikatan Nasional (PN) rival, Mohamad Haizan Jaafar, far behind with just 7,347 votes.
Anwar, speaking during a dinner hosted by the Sarawak government, emphasized that the result signals Johoreans’ confidence in the Unity Government’s focus on economic development and national progress. He congratulated Syed Hussein and expressed optimism about the government’s future collaborations in Johor under Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.
