KUALA LUMPUR, October 2 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced today that the federal government is developing a National Cloud Policy to help businesses of all sizes leverage cloud technology and enhance their global competitiveness. Speaking at the launch of Google’s US$2 billion data centre in Selangor, Anwar outlined four key areas of focus, including boosting public service innovation, promoting economic growth, strengthening user trust, and ensuring digital inclusivity.
Anwar emphasized that the new cloud policy will align with the government’s plan for artificial intelligence (AI), which includes establishing a national AI office to oversee initiatives such as a five-year technology action plan. The Google data centre is expected to create 26,500 jobs and contribute RM13 billion to Malaysia’s economy by 2030, underscoring growing investor confidence in the country’s economic policies.
