GEORGE TOWN, October 4 – Penang’s iconic ferry, which is being restored to become Asia’s first floating ferry museum, was successfully towed today from Bagan Dalam Slipway to the Swettenham Pier Cruise Terminal (SPCT). The ferry, which was partially submerged in 2021, is being refurbished by Printhero Merchandise Sdn. Bhd. to preserve its historical importance in Penang’s maritime history.
The ferry made its final passage through the KTMB Swing Bridge in Butterworth around 1:00 p.m., stopping briefly for the bridge to open before continuing to its temporary docking at SPCT. This marks the last time the iconic vessel crossed the bridge, symbolizing the end of an era following the closure of the Bagan Dalam Slipway.
The project aims to transform the ferry into a floating museum, offering future generations a glimpse into Penang’s rich maritime legacy.
