GEORGE TOWN, October 5 — Penang Hill’s Dataran will serve as a temporary hawker site starting January 13, 2025, to accommodate vendors from Cliff Café (Astaka Bukit Bendera) during its redevelopment. Construction of the temporary site will begin on October 7 and run through December 31, 2024. This move ensures that hawkers can continue operations as the redevelopment project, set to start in mid-February 2025, proceeds.
Penang Hill Corporation (PHC) emphasized the need for public cooperation during the construction and announced that Cliff Café will continue serving visitors until the temporary site is ready. The redevelopment project, expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2026, will expand the dining area and upgrade facilities to enhance the visitor experience. PHC appreciates the public’s patience during this transition.
