KUALA LUMPUR, October 5 — Universiti Malaya (UM) has named Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, CEO of Capital A Berhad, as an adjunct professor for a three-year term. The university highlighted Fernandes’ extensive 35-year career in aviation and business, noting that his expertise will provide invaluable real-world insights to students and faculty, bridging the gap between academic theory and industry practice.
Fernandes, best known for transforming AirAsia into a leading budget airline, will contribute through lectures, seminars, and workshops, while also assisting UM in building strategic partnerships with local and global organisations. His appointment aims to enrich the university’s learning environment, offering students direct access to industry leadership and inspiring innovation in business education.
