ABU DHABI, October 6 — PETRONAS Abu Dhabi Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of PETRONAS, has secured a new oil and gas exploration concession in Onshore Block 2, awarded by the Supreme Council for Financial and Economic Affairs (SCFEA). The concession grants PETRONAS Abu Dhabi 100 per cent equity and operatorship during the exploration phase, marking the company’s third concession in the region.
The Onshore Block 2, covering over 7,300 square kilometers in Abu Dhabi’s Al Dhafra region, follows PETRONAS’ previous ventures in Unconventional Blocks 1 and 5. PETRONAS Executive Vice President Mohd Jukris Abdul Wahab expressed gratitude for SCFEA’s trust and highlighted the potential for growth in both conventional and unconventional resource exploration, aligning with the company’s sustainable energy goals and global expansion efforts.
