BAYAN LEPAS, October 10 — The Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and the Association of Malaysian Medical Industries (AMMI) have unveiled a promising future for Malaysia’s medtech industry with the release of the “Medical Device Industry Status and Outlook 2024/2025 Report.” At the Malaysia Medtech Industry Summit 2024, it was highlighted that Malaysia leads Southeast Asia in medtech innovation, driven by a robust ecosystem, adherence to global standards, and strong government backing.
MIDA CEO Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim emphasized the country’s position as a key player in the global medtech landscape, supported by strategic government initiatives like the Twelfth Malaysia Plan and the New Industrial Master Plan 2030. AMMI Chairman Andy Lee further noted that Malaysia’s RM10.6 billion medical device market, the largest in Southeast Asia, is attracting increased investments, with plans for RM2.7 billion in expansions and new product developments.
