KUALA LUMPUR, October 11 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim highlighted Malaysia’s strength as a multiracial and multireligious nation, stressing the importance of good governance and tolerance in fostering unity. In an interview with British-American journalist Mehdi Hasan, Anwar emphasized that Malaysia’s success in managing diversity shows how a Muslim-majority country can thrive by prioritizing economic development and national unity.
Amid global trust deficits and divisions, Anwar called for focusing on key issues like education, healthcare, and economic challenges, rather than using politically charged topics like hudud law as a tool for electoral gains. Peace and security, he asserted, must remain the nation’s top priority.
