JOHOR BARU, October 12 – Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi has called for the decision to revert Johor’s official weekend to Saturday and Sunday not to be politicised, emphasizing the importance of preserving state harmony. He stressed that the decision, which aligns with the orders of Johor Regent Tunku Mahkota Ismail, was made in the best interest of the people and should not be a subject for political debate.
Onn Hafiz reassured the public that the change respects the significance of Friday prayers for Muslims, while allowing families more quality time together. He echoed Tunku Mahkota Ismail’s statement that the new weekend schedule, effective from January 1, 2025, will benefit Johor’s residents and economy, and urged critics to refrain from using the issue to sow discord.
