PETALING JAYA, October 13 — Bersatu Youth chief Wan Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal has called for the party to evolve from its traditional Malay-centric focus to a more inclusive approach that also champions the needs of non-Malays and non-Muslims. He emphasized that this shift is crucial if the party intends to gain power in Putrajaya during the next general election. Wan Fayhsal highlighted the role of Bersatu’s associate wing, which empowers non-Malays like Chong Fat Full, who holds a position equivalent to a vice-president.
However, while advocating for inclusivity, Wan Fayhsal stressed that Bersatu should not abandon its foundational mission of championing Malay Muslim issues, which were central to its formation in 2017. He further pointed out that to reduce dependence on protest votes from disillusioned Umno members, Bersatu needs a strong manifesto, a compelling narrative, and a scandal-free leadership to build confidence and attract broader voter support.
