KUALA LUMPUR, October 15 – In light of ongoing global challenges, including economic uncertainty and environmental crises, employee mental health is emerging as a critical issue. This year’s World Mental Health Day theme, “Mental Health at Work,” highlights the urgent need for organisations to prioritise mental wellbeing in the workplace. International SOS, a leading health and security risk services company, urges businesses to foster a supportive work environment, providing essential resources such as counselling services and employee assistance programmes.

The economic impact of mental health issues is significant, with the World Health Organization estimating that around 12 billion working days are lost annually due to depression and anxiety, costing the global economy US$1 trillion each year. Ms Foo Pei Lynn, Psychologist at International SOS Malaysia, emphasised that mental health is integral to overall health, calling on organisations to promote resilience, open communication, and mental health awareness to create a more productive and positive workplace.
