KUALA LUMPUR, October 16 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim clarified today that the approval for HeiTech Padu Bhd to be considered for government contracts occurred under the previous administration, before his former political secretary, Datuk Seri Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak, became involved with the company. HeiTech Padu was one of the companies shortlisted for the RM1 billion National Integrated Immigration System (NIISe) project.
Addressing the Dewan Rakyat, Anwar explained that Farhash only acquired a 15.91 per cent stake in HeiTech Padu in March this year, well after the contract approval in 2022. He emphasized that the majority of the company’s shares are now owned by Kelantan’s Sultan Muhammad V, and assured that any potential wrongdoing would be investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
